Why I Am Pro-Life!

This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him…Duet. 31:19

Abortion Fact Sheet

Since Roe v Wade, 42,649,579 babies have lost their lives due to induced abortion.

Abortion is legal through all nine months of pregnancy.
On Jan. 22, 1973, the US Supreme Court enacted Roe v. Wade making abortion a constitutional right. That same day, another case, Doe v. Bolton, defined “health of the mother” to include all factors-physical, emotional, psychological, familial, and the woman's age. The loose definition of allows a woman to have an abortion for any reason and at any time during her pregnancy.

Abortion is never medically necessary to save a mother’s life.
“Today it is possible for almost any patient to be brought through pregnancy alive, unless she suffers from a fatal disease such as cancer or leukemia, and if so, abortion would be unlikely to prolong, much less save the life of the mother.” - Alan Guttmacher, former Planned Parenthood president

Hundreds of women have died as a direct result of legal abortion.
The names and cases of 347 women can be viewed at lifedynamics.com.

Abortion hurts women physically, psychologically, emotionally and spiritually.
See notes below.

Abortion is NOT a safe procedure.
Ten percent of women undergoing an elective abortion will suffer immediate complications, of which one-fifth are considered life threatening. The most common complications that can occur at the time of an abortion are: ripping or perforation of the uterus, excessive bleeding, infection, embolism, convulsions, hemorrhage, cervical injury, endotoxic shock, fever, second degree burns, vomiting, and chronic abdominal pain. (Learn more by reading “Physical Health Risks of Abortion:Scientific Studies Reveal Significant Risks,” from the Elliot Institute.

Complications in future pregnancies, such as excessive bleeding, premature delivery, cervical damage and sterility are risks of abortion (see Acta/Obstetrics and Gynecology Scandinavia, Vol. 58, 1979, pp. 491-494)
The risks of placenta previa-which produces extremely severe, life threatening bleeding during future pregnancies, is increased 600 percent after an abortion (see American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Vol.. 141, 1981, pp. 769-772.
The risks of tubal (ectopic) pregnancy increases by 30 percent after one abortion and 12 percent of all maternal deaths are due to ectopic pregnancies (see American Journal of Public Health, Vol. 72, 1982, pp. 253-256, and “Annual Ectopic Totals Rose Steadily in 1970’s-But Morality Fell,” in Family Planning Perspectives, 1983, Vol. 15, p. 85).
And the list goes on and on.

Abortion increases the risk of breast cancer.
The World Conference on Breast Cancer acknowledges the link between abortion and breast cancer. Prolonged use of birth control pills, late or lack of pregnancies, and breast feeding, induced termination of pregnancies…are all cited as risk factors for increased estrogens and breast cancer.” 1
- 1997 World Conference on Breast Cancer Global Action Plan Report, Kingston, Ontario, Canada 1998, p. 15.
Eleven out of twelve case-control studies of US women-of African, Asian and European ancestry-show increased risk of breast cancer in women who chose abortion (eight with statistical significance). Twenty-five out of thirty-one worldwide case-control and cohort studies show increased risk.
- Abortion-Breast Cancer Quarterly Update
Dr. Joel Brind, 1999

A woman who had an abortion in the first trimester of her first pregnancy, whether spontaneous or induced, is two and one-half (2 ½) times more likely to develop breast cancer.
When conception occurs, hormonal changes influence the breast. The milk duct network grows quickly to form other networks that will ultimately produce milk. During this period of tremendous growth and development, breast cells are undergoing great change and are immature or “undifferentiated”; hence, they are more susceptible to carcinogens. But, when a first full-term pregnancy is completed, hormonal changes reduce the risk of outside carcinogen influence. When termination occurs in the first trimester, there are no protective effects, and many of the rapidly dividing cells of the breast are left in transitional states. It is these transitional states of high proliferation and undifferentiation that these cells undergo transformation to cancer cells.
- Breast Health, Dr. Charles Simone, p. 147

Abortion ends a human life.
According to physicians, biologists and scientists: Conception (fertilization) marks the beginning of the life of a human being…There is overwhelming agreement on this point in countless medical, biological and scientific writings.”1
Subcommittee on Separation of Powers to Senate Judiciary Committee S-158, 97th Congress, 1st Session 1981, p.7
Every abortion involves, either surgically or chemically, the destruction of a human zygote or a human fetus, and the subsequent removal of that human from his/her mother’s womb. Therefore, every single ends a human life.

Is abortion okay in the case of rape?
Rape is a horrendous crime, leaving women in a state of mental, physical, and emotional turmoil. When a woman becomes pregnant as the result of rape (which happens less than 1 percent of the time), abortion will not take away the trauma, the nightmares, the pain-but it may add to them. According to a survey conducted by Dr. David Reardon of the Elliott Institute in 1990, the psychological complications of abortion include guilt, nervous disorders, nightmares, and memory loss (over 100 psychiatric reactions in all). Additionally, if there was a pre-existing disordered state (like rape), abortion may cause worsening of psychological functioning.
No, abortion is not okay in cases of rape. It still results in the death of a child and damages the physical, emotional and psychological health of a woman.

Does the baby feel pain? Yes!
The earliest first term abortions occur at eight weeks, while the majority occurs between eight to twelve weeks. Based on the development of the nervous system, babies as young as eight weeks gestational age feel both psychological and physical responses to noxious stimuli, which in this case is abortion.

What is fetal tissue harvesting?
Fetal tissue harvesting, involves the procurement of organs, tissue or external body parts from aborted babies for use in research, testing, and experimentation.
Customers for these “products” include the National Institutes of Health, The Environmental Protection Agency, Johns Hopkins University, the Cancer Research Institute, the New England Regional Primate Center and SmithKline Pharmaceuticals, among others. For detailed information on fetal tissue harvesting, contact Life Dynamics at 940-380-8800 for their extensive study.

Is the World overpopulated? NO!
If everyone wanted to live in one city at a population density similar to New York City, the world’s six billion people could live in Texas.
In fact, the real emergency lies on the fact that populations are falling.
According to the United Nations projections, the population of the world will peak at seven-plus billion about the year 2040, and then begin to decline.
